Luxuriously crafted to reflect the beauty of nature, the Elemental Threads Cushion Collection features superior textiles. The collection thoughtfully combines a neutral, nature-inspired colour palette with highly textural natural fibres in stylish designs.
Conceptualised by Sebastian Nash, King Living Head of Textile Design, the cushions draw on years of experience and a deep understanding of both craftsmanship and contemporary design. Sebastian shares the inspiration behind the collection, the uncompromising quality of the fabrication and styling tips for pairing with other fabrics from the King Living Collection.

The natural world – particularly the textures, colours and shapes that define the Australian landscape – was the primary inspiration behind the Elemental Threads Cushion Collection. “I designed the textiles to fit the Australian psyche,” explains Sebastian.
It’s easy to see how the sand dunes, coastal views and vast expanses of bushland of the Australian natural environment are reflected in the designs. As for colour, Sebastian says that “Everything is quite understated with a neutral palette of caramel, warm sand and silver shades with minimal pops of colour.”
The earthy tones not only reflect the beauty and simplicity of the outdoors but also allow the textures and craftsmanship of the collection to take centre stage.

The King Difference is underpinned by uncompromising quality that sees the products stand the test of time. The Elemental Threads Cushion Collection is no exception, with some of the most skilled textile mills from around the world responsible for the fabrics.
“The textiles are made in India or Italy by very, very specialist mills,” he says. “These are the same mills that work with the top international fabric editors, ensuring that every cushion in the collection meets our high standards of luxury.”
Balancing the organic, handcrafted feel of the textiles with high-end craftsmanship was essential for this collection. The attention to detail results in a richness of texture that adds to the authenticity and charm of the collection.
“The idea was for the collection to have a handcrafted feel,” shares Sebastian. “The Allure Cushion has a very distinctive, slubby bouclé with loops that almost look like happy mistakes. They are of course very intentional thanks to the quality of the craftsmanship.”

Texture plays a pivotal role in the Elemental Threads Cushion Collection and for Sebastian, it was vital to create pieces that feel as special as they look. This focus on texture shines through in the intricate design work and fabric choices. From the bouclé yarns to the twill weaves and the detailed embroidery, each piece is crafted to offer a unique tactile experience.
What’s perhaps most interesting about the collection is how the designs, colours and textures play together to create an organic quality.
“‘Eternal Drifts’ is inspired by the natural forms of sand dunes,” explains Sebastian. “You’ve got these lovely details in the soft sage, caramel and warm sand colours. The pattern is a simple stitch on linen ground so it’s got a really beautiful soft hand.”
‘Serendipity’ is similarly nature-inspired with the stitched design based on a topography pattern hand-drawn by Sebastian. ‘Nostalgic’ instead takes inspiration from mid-century modern art. The geometric shapes and bold embroidery contrast beautifully with the softness of the fabrics, offering a fresh take on a classic style.

The beauty of the Elemental Threads Cushion Collection lies in its ability to seamlessly complement a wide range of interior styles, from coastal retreats to rural hideaways. Sebastian’s vision for the collection was to create pieces that work effortlessly within any space. The collection’s neutral tones, natural textures and subtle pops of colour allow it to pair beautifully with other premium fabrics from the King Living Collection.
“I see this collection working especially well with our Whiteley fabric,” says Sebastian. “Whiteley has a beautiful texture and alongside the Eternal Threads fabrics, they have this beautiful synergy of scale.
“Amalfi is another lovely yard dyed option, again with rich texture and understated colour. Milton has a beautiful slub and is slightly rustic with a little bit of character, making it another good choice. Or opt for a fabric like Balmain, which is a chenille with a bouclé yarn with a deconstructed check.”
Whether styled in a coastal home with timber and stone accents or a modern urban setting, the Elemental Threads Cushion Collection brings warmth and character to any room. Sebastian notes that it’s “relaxed luxury rather than glam luxury”, which makes it ideal for those who value quality, comfort and timeless design.
